It was another night of meat, cheese, perhaps too much wine (i.e. just the right amount), a group of fanatics and their musical delights.
This month’s theme was Lost & Found…which was delightfully interpreted in every which way. From the literal (Susan) to the psychedelic (Olly), from the sacred (Justin) to the morbid (Lucy), and also swinging deftly between two men named Elvis (Theo).
Sam’s Harmonia & Eno ’76 made for real eyecandy on the night (it’s an actual non-Hipstamatic photo, believe it or not), and Sarah’s play of The Books brought a great discussion on what a difference headphones can make for something to be cacophonous one day, and infectious the next.
Tune of the night came from Gavin, whose 50s lost treasure of Gloria Brown “Looking For My Baby” brought an after-hours vinyl session and the discovery that three guests are resident DJs at the Boogaloo, so I think we’ll be spending more time up in Highgate!
The track that’s still on repeat for me is Sagor och Swing “In i Skogen”. Carl felt the track was melancholic in nature, and I find it warm and comforting. Another example of lost & found interpretation?
Nothing from Finders Keepers records made it to the table, but as always you can never predict these nights.
Looking forward to next month….
